AI Stories

These are stories that I wrote for children or young adults.
The stories take place on Sharmee, an earthlike planet inhabited by intelligent cats.

I wrote the stories and then used Llama 3.1 to correct the grammar in my writing.
I also sent the stories to Google’s LMnotebook to generate an audio ‘deep dive’ of the stories.

Jax Meets Piper

This is a story about a young adolescent kitten named Jax.
He likes to explore far into the surrounding hills and forests. One day while Jax was exploring, he heard a sound – a faint mewling sound coming from somewhere.
Jax started searching in an ever-widening circle until he finally discovered a small opening under an old rotten log. The mewling sound was stronger now, and it was coming from the opening.
Jax called into the opening, “I hear you. Are you okay?” A small, frightened voice answered back, “Help me please. I’ve fallen and hurt my leg.”
Jax approached the hole and peered inside, but he could only see a little way in. He called, “I’m going to come in, but it looks pretty dark.” The hurt kitten replied, “Go slow so your eyes can get used to the dark, but be careful you don’t fall into the same hole I did.”
Jax called out, “Thanks for the warning. By the way, my name is Jax – what’s your name?” “They call me Piper,” returned the little voice.
Jax carefully made his way into the dark hole, his eyes adjusting slowly to the dim light. As he crawled forward, he called out, “Piper, I’m coming in now. Just stay calm and talk to me so you don’t get scared.”
Piper’s voice was steady: “I’ll be okay, Jax. But if you need a hand… well, not literally… just call out and I’ll try to help.”
As Jax crawled deeper into the hole, he began to feel his way along the rough bark of the log that had hidden Piper.
His sensitive whiskers twitched as he navigated through the narrow space, trying not to scrape his own legs or hurt himself. Finally, after what felt like an eternity to him, Jax reached a point where he could see Pip’s tiny form huddled in the corner of the hole.
He peered down at her and saw that she was indeed injured – one of her hind legs seemed twisted at an awkward angle. Jax carefully lowered himself beside Piper and gently examined her leg.
“Don’t worry, Piper,” he said softly. “I think I can help you get out of here. But first, let’s see how badly hurt you are.” He used his sharp teeth to gently grip Piper’s fur and try to straighten her leg.
Piper winced in pain but tried to stay still as Jax worked on her. After a few tense moments, he declared, “I think I can get you out of here, but we need to be careful not to make it worse.”
With his strong front paws, he carefully supported Pip’s injured leg and began to back himself slowly towards the exit. Piper held on tight as Jax expertly maneuvered them both through the hole and into the bright sunlight.
As they emerged onto the forest floor, Jax looked down at Piper with concern. “We need to get you home,” he said gently. “My mom is a great healer – she’ll know just what to do for your leg.”
Piper smiled weakly up at Jax, grateful for his bravery and kindness.
Together, they made their way through the forest towards home, going slowly so Piper wouldn’t injure her leg even more.
Jax’s mother, a gentle and experienced healer named Willow, examined Piper’s injured leg carefully.
Her whiskers twitched as she assessed the damage. After a few moments of consideration, she nodded to herself and said, “I think I can help her get back on her paws in no time.”
She fetched a small stick from a nearby branch and used it to gently brace Piper’s injured leg. Piper let out a relieved sigh as Willow worked on her leg.
Jax watched with interest, happy that his friend was going to be okay. “How long will she need to rest, Mom?” he asked.
Willow looked up at him and said, “Let’s see… I’d say she’ll need about a week or so of light rest and gentle care.”
“We can get her some nice soft blankets to sleep on,” Willow continued, “and make sure she has plenty of food and water.” Piper’s eyes sparkled with gratitude as she heard Willow’s plan.
“That sounds wonderful,” Piper said, her voice filled with appreciation. Jax smiled at his mother and friend, feeling happy that he could help Piper recover from her ordeal.
He decided to take it upon himself to be Piper’s caregiver for the next week, making sure she got plenty of rest and food.
The three of them spent the next few days in a cozy routine, with Jax and Willow taking turns to check on Piper’s leg and make sure she was comfortable.
As the days passed, Piper began to feel better, her energy levels returning as her leg started to heal.
One day, as they were sitting together on the porch, Piper turned to Jax and said, “You know, I’ve been thinking…”
“Maybe it’s time for me to start exploring again,” she said, a hint of excitement in her voice. Jax’s ears perked up with interest.
“Really? You want to go exploring?” he asked. Piper nodded, a mischievous glint in her eye.
“Yeah! And this time, I was thinking we could go on an adventure together.” Jax grinned at his friend, feeling thrilled that they could share another exciting experience together.
“Sounds perfect,” he said, and the two of them started making plans for their next big adventure.
